Here where we live is an eternal summer (Amazonia). We have two seasons, dry and rainy, but also during the dry season it can rain because the climate is tropical rain forest. At the moment we are in the dry season and let me tell you, it’s hot in here! The temperature during the day can easily get over 40°C and it´s really sunny too. One day I went jogging at mid-day, which was a big mistake, but I got a nice tanning anyway. The last six months of my pregnancy was a bit hard, because the hottest months happened to be at the moment.
During the rainy season the temperature can be around 18°C or more and after the dry season those temperatures feel a bit cold. In my mind, nowadays, it’s cold when I have to wear a long sleeve shirt, which is funny since according to my husband I come from the North Pole (Ok, I admit, it can get quite cold in Finland)! My mom was here at the beginning of June, when we were still at the rainy season and she said it’s not really hot in here.
At the highlands it’s a different story. The sun can be hard on you, because you are at the equator and high altitudes, but you don’t necessarily notice that because the weather isn’t really hot. Actually, for example, Quito is a bit cold, especially at nights. If you are planning to stay at the highlands, pack a jacket and some warm clothes with you just in case.
My favorite season in Finland was the autumn but I enjoyed the summertime too. Here in Ecuador I enjoy the fact that I don’t have to freeze during the winter time, but the hottest month are a bit too rough on me. The best weather for me is when the sun is shining but a little bit of breeze makes the air fresh.-
The weather today is really sunny.
Just for fun, Finland (this picture is from Helsinki) during the winter time.
