Today 6th of December Finland celebrates it’s 97th Independence day. Even I’m living in Ecuador, I’m proud to be Finnish and thankful for the independence.
People usually celebrate Independence day in Finland at their homes. If you go to the cities of Finland today, you will notice all the stores are closed and it’s really quiet on the streets. President has a celebration every year, which is shown live on the TV and it’s tradition in many families to watch this program (though I’m not interested in that). It’s a peaceful celebration with the family gathering together, to honer the independence.
Here are some of my pictures from Finland and a song about Finland, from a famous Finnish band Stratovarius, Land of Ice and Snow (remember, we have four seasons it’s not just snow and cold all year around :)).
I wish you all happy Finnish Independence day!
Super! I have myself written stories of Salinas, Ecuador to group Ulkosuomalaiset, but I am considering to start keeping a blog, when I find a housing i Medellin, Columbia, where I will be moving before Christmas to see how I can thrive in that country.
